While the Poppies sleep
Seize the hours between open awning mornings and petal-clenched nights. As the poppies sleep, dreams rain confectionery gems that will nourish the grounds for the next dawn-rising reality. Moon dust in its most potent and granulated form can be found lining poppy pistils. A kiss of sleep yields this entire effervescent sequence.
Story Board
Beginning with a monochromatic house resting in a grass field, the house slowly exhausts smoke from the chimney as if its lungs are being cleaned and emptied. The emanating smoke begins to accrue a reddish tinge that corresponds with color seeping back into the environment. The house begins to blush as red appears under the windows. The camera then pans upwards into the sky. Smoke begins pooling and forming wispy clouds that then softens into cotton candy clouds.
The clouds sweep overhead and rain sprinkles over a tumultuous sea. The waves rock an origami paper sailboat across the frame and concludes this dreamy narrative until the entire sequence loops over again.
The final major video sequence includes a girl lucid dreaming of a candy world. As poppies swoon up and down, they are showered with the candy sprinkle motif observed in the last ocean scene, and the ground becomes nourished with these dream particles and provides (literal) fertile ground for the entire series to unfold. Her Candyland house dream is zoomed into , focusing on the windows, and the short concludes with the original house positioned during night fall.
