Complementary
Make a friend.
Create a group.
Build a network.
Project Statement
Complementary is an innovative socialization app that matches local friend groups together based on similar interests, hobbies, and compatible personalities. It not only encourages people to meet their local doppelganger but also encourages users to meet entire friend groups that share similar traits. By aiming to reduce a level of superficiality that is common on many other socialization apps, and instead use the more organic and distinguishing nuances in our personalities to augment pairings, Complementary seeks to unite us together in a much more cohesive and meaningful way. Allow Complementary to break the ice; let's make the world more colorful.

Description
Unlike other socialization apps, where the focus is almost entirely on materialistic attributes (such as appearance and height) and someone's entire personality is compressed into one very short and less-than-300 character bio, Complementary digs much deeper than the surface. By asking users personalized and meaningful questions as they register their accounts, their psychological and philosophical qualities are incorporated into their individual profiles. Matching occurs by analyzing these personality types via Complementary's in-house personality assessment tool and by giving users the option to add their Myers-Briggs identification. The matching system uses a scientifically-based algorithm (which sources data from external studies on the components of healthy, long-term relationships and from compiled, consistent user feedback). This algorithm is constantly updating to best augment the likelihood of successfully built friendships.
By offering a service that allows users to initially view group profiles and then to hone in on more individualized ones, it encourages users to socialize with many peers simultaneously. Upon creating an account and profile in the app, users are asked to link their profiles to their friends' accounts. This is made possible via link sharing and registering. Once linked, the group becomes a collective umbrella account (that is only editable by the members within it). Friends have the ability to create a group picture, name, and picture gallery (which can include images of each group member, their common interests, memes, etc.) . After finalization of all necessary core content, such as each fully completed profile and assembly of the master group page, the app would then scan local databases for friend groups with content overlap. By shifting away from a more rudimentary person-to-person match system, users are more statistically likely to encounter someone they would successfully bond with.
